The primary purpose of this position is to perform new installations, wiring upgrades and maintenance of voice and non-voice communication systems. Install, maintain, repair, modify, troubleshoot and relocate inside and outside copper core and fiber optical cable, premise wiring and related equipment of the communications infrastructure
Responsibilities
Independently reviews work orders. Resolves project installation and maintenance problems by interpreting sketches, drawings, directives, diagrams, communications and computer facility records and technical orders.
Performs technical cable maintenance and installation actions
Operates as required, vehicles and heavy equipment, e.g. 3/4 ton four-wheel drive line trucks and vans, motorized trenching machines with backhoe attachment, 2 1/2 ton cable reel truck, and generator power control (GPC) units.
Uses and maintains trade tools and equipment such as wire strippers, wire punch down with 66/110 blades, telephone butt set; drills, wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, socket sets, electlicians utility knife and scissors.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Employee may perform other additional duties as assigned on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
