Summary

Responsibilities
EDUCATIONAL AIDE MASTER, GS-1702-04
TESTING: Distributes, collects and grades testing materials.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Prepares instructional materials or bulletin boards by gathering graphics and simple concepts from websites, teacher folders or personal folders of previously used illustrations.
LEARNING: Provides additional, special, or remedial instruction to selected students. Oversees independent study in computer laboratories and learning resource centers.
ADMINISTRATION: Distributes and collects items such as tests, homework assignments, and classroom handouts. Performs standard recordkeeping, routine filing, and keep the classroom neat and tidy. Assists in maintaining security and conservation of equipment and materials. Plans and coordinates field trips.
MEDIA CENTER ASSIGNMENT: Helps in computer media center, coordinating schedules with teachers, registering students for programs, assisting students with accessing computer programs, monitoring and keeping students on-task, keeping computer progress records, and preparing and printing routine reports.

Additional duties; you will assist the Kindergarten teacher in the implementation of the full-day Kindergarten program for early childhood education.

Additional duties; you will provide assistance in teaching skills in toileting, feeding, eating, and personal hygiene. Lift, carry, transfer, and facilitate the motor development of physically impaired students. Observe and record students' behaviors and activities. Assists handicapped students to and from school.
EDUCATIONAL AIDE (Sure Start), GS-1702-04
Additional duties; you will collaborate with and assist the Sure Start teacher in the implementation of the Sure Start Program for enrolled children. Participates in home visits. Contributes to reports and assessments. Assists in planning and conducting parent activities. Serves as Sure Start committee member.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community. (5 CFR 575.203)

Employment in these positions is subject to successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability determination and favorable re-investigation every five years.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for these positions, applicants must possess one year of general work experience that has equipped the applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. General Experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Applicants who do not meet generalized experience requirement may substitute experience with education OR a combination of experience and education.
Education
Applicants must possess: one year general experience; OR two years post-high school level education; OR a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification- i.e. 6 months general experience with one (1) year education above high school.
One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in business, secretarial or technical school.

A 13.01% non-taxable cost of living allowance (COLA) will be added to the salary. COLA may be subject to change without notice.
Positions are in the excepted service. Selectee must convert to an excepted service appointment.
Work schedules may be part-time, full-time or school year seasonal. Some positions are part-time with seasonal work schedules. School year seasonal work schedules include periods in a non-pay/non-duty status during the holiday, spring and summer recess periods.
For positions with temporary appointments lasting less than one year, benefits may not be authorized.
